Ranking in search engines like Google is one of the major difficulties people are facing in their starting period.  Search engine ranking is based on many factors like content type, SEO, EAT score etc.,

In this article, we are going to see some of the needed beginner optimization things for your article to rank in google SERPs.

Improving your writing skills will help to attract more users.  While writing your article you should avoid grammar mistakes and write the needed content to the user which will solve their problem.

Use necessary images in your article.  Embed related videos in your post and write necessary paragraphs in your article.  Many people say writing long form of content will rank in google but if you provide the necessary information which may be finish in 2 to 3 paragraphs or which will need long form content.

Based upon the topic and details you provide the number of words and paragraphs will vary.  So give the correct information in your article and some people will like short and sweet content and some people will need more information.

Based upon your knowledge you give the information correctly to the users which may be short or long form of content.

Your ranking depends on the audience interaction.  Google shows your content to the audience based upon the interaction and time spent on your article, it get ranked in a position.


2.  Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) keywords:

LSI words means the words or phrases that is related to your content.  For example:  your article is based on SEO marketing means then your paragraphs should include phrases like on page seo, technical seo, digital marketing like that.

Google uses these LSI words to understand that this article is related to this type of content.  So you should use LSI words in your article.  The best way to tell to google is use LSI words in the first few paragraphs of your article.  And use good words in your h1 title and h2 title.

Understanding user search queries will help you to improve your article.  Audience will know what they are searching for and they will land on that page correctly.  So you should know about the audience queries in the search engines.

There are three types of search queries in search engine:
  • Navigational search queries: In this type of search query, the user intent was already known.  That is the user will know which page we are going to search and enter.  For example, a user type amazon in google and they clicked amazon website.  This means they know that they are going to enter in this website only.  These types of search queries are called navigational search queries.
  • Informational search queries: Users type these queries to know about something like football champion ship.  So the intent was to get the knowledge about that particular topic.
  • Transactional search queries:  In this type of search query, the user want to purchase or do a transaction.  For example, searching like samsung S23 in google.
Targeting informational search queries is easily to get traffic for your site.

4.  Concentrate on basic SEO methods:

When talking about SEO there are many things to do.  But when you are a complete beginner means you should focus on your ON page SEO.  And doing little things on OFF page and technical SEO will improve your knowledge on SEO methods.

The important ON page SEO factor a beginner should know is placing the keywords correctly in your article, without stuffing it.  Include your focus keyword in the title and main heading.  Also just spread some focus and other related keywords on the first few paragraphs.

Don't do too much of keyword placing when you are a beginner because too much keywords will negatively affect your google ranking.

Backlinks means putting your website link in any other website.  The website owner will consider and put your website link in their article for reference link or for more details link.  Then this link is considered as backlink.

The link should be do follow link, if they put no follow link means then it is not followed by crawler bot then it is not considered for backlink.

While building backlinks you should follow this.  Don't build too much backlinks suddenly for your beginner website.  Build backlinks slowly.  Because suddenly building backlinks in a month cause negative ranking.  So build your backlink profile slowly.

7.  Improve your EAT score:

EAT means Expertise Authority Trust.  It is also one of the Google ranking factors.  When you write your first article then google find that you have much knowledge about this topic or not by using this EAT score.

When you get backlinks and if you mention that you know these topics in your bio in your website then google understand and improve the trust on you.

Working on the same content types and getting more audience and backlinks will improve your EAT score automatically.

You can see that wikipedia has more internal links.  Because they have covered many topics so they give internal links based upon the main content.

So you also use many useful internal links in your article.  This will improve your bounce rate.

Bounce rate means the user come to your website and without going back, they move forward to other pages in your website.  This means then your bounce rate will be low because the user does not bounce back from your website (i.e does not leaving your website suddenly).

Meta description is the short text that shows on google search.  You should write short and sweet meta description and the description should be clear to the user also.

Put your focus keyword in your meta description.  Also see meta description of other ranking sites.  The meta description showing in google SERP will vary because sometimes google automatically show relevant text from your article in the meta description in the SERP.

Schema markups are added to the content of the pages to show rich results and snippets in Google and other search engines. and many other companies like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex are promoting schema for the structured data that is available to the Internet community.

There are many schema markups available like article schema, breadcrumb, how-to etc.,  So if you add schema markup means then your site will be shown in rich results.

12. Making your site mobile friendly:

Google now prefers only responsive and mobile friendly sites.  Mobile first sites have more chance to get first in Google SERPs.

Make your site good for mobile viewing and also for desktop viewing.

13.  Refreshing your old content:

Updating your old content definitely improve your post ranking.  Many people don't update their previous content.  So they get drop in their ranking.  You should update your content will new fresh information then google will increase your ranking.

Also many topics such as adsense approval in current year, video editors in this year are refreshed every year.  Also audience expect current year content in these topics and new articles in these topics will rank.  So update your article with relevant fresh information.

14.  Make your website available to search engines:

After written an article, you must make your article available to all search engines.  Submit your sitemap to the respective webmaster tool.  For Google, we have search console.

While making your website public to the world.  You need to follow the webmaster rules and conditions and the Government internet policies.  Publishing illegal or adult or piracy content is strictly prohibited.  Like wise you need to follow all the required terms and conditions of Google search and other search engines.

15.  Marketing your content:

When you hear the word marketing, you may think that running ad campaigns or promoting, which is also marketing.  But we can do marketing without paying any money.
  • Sharing your articles in social media is the best practice to drive social traffic.  It also gives signal to Google and will boost your ranking.
  • Answering in any social forum like QuoraReddit etc., will give you free traffic source.  Also you can get content ideas from these forums.

16.   Analyzing your content:

After marketing, wait for some days (may be 4 days or 1 week) and use your analyzing tools to measure how your article is performing.  You can Google Analytics or Microsoft clarity or any other tool to measure your performance, traffic source, where the audience come from and much more things.

Using search console to analyze your content is also a good practice.  
  • Go to google search tab in search console and see the pages tab and see the top performing articles of your site.  
  • And make changes to old articles or modify old articles to boost the ranking.

17.  Table of Content, Alt text, URL Optimisation:

  • Adding a table of Content to your article will increase your ranking.
  • Optimisation the keywords in the alt text will help you to rank in google images.
  • URL optimisation is done properly with your focus keywords and correct text in the URL.  Short and easy memorable URLs are good.
